Chrome Maxell is a gritty yet forward-thinking collaboration between Toronto Canada mc Tona and Los Angeles–based producer Roho, rooted in the spirit of classic hip-hop while pushing its edges into new territory. Inspired by the era of cassette tapes and unfiltered expression, the title reflects a return to raw craftsmanship—loop-heavy beats, sharp lyricism, and an unpolished authenticity. At the same time, the project refuses to live in the past, weaving in innovative production textures and modern sonic risks. The result is a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and futuristic, like rediscovering a lost tape that somehow already knows what’s next.
