Nelson Dialect & Must Volkoff ft. Ayelya - Surprised

“Motivation is the key", Adelaide rapper Nelson Dialect & French singer Ayelya declare on the new single with Melbourne producer Must Volkoff.

Surprised is a bilingual and international collaboration between Nelson Dialect and Ayelya, reflecting the experience of years pursuing their craft. Hailing from Paris, singer/songwriter Ayelya delivers both a captivating verse in French and the soul drenched chorus voiced in English. She is renowned in France for her live vocal work with prominent soul & Hip Hop artists including Youssoupha, and recently for her backup vocals on the acclaimed Tiny Desk performance by Lous & The Yakuza.

A song conceived during Nelson’s time in France touring and working with Ayelya in the studio, the duo would write the lyrics inspired by their time on the road and commitment to their art. Surprised is a piece encouraging the listener to reflect that through consistency in creation there should be no surprise about what can be achieved individually.

Producer Must Volkoff, whose recent credits include work with Jehst, Chester P & Sonnyjim among many more offers a psychedelic soul number in the production, melding his signature style of Rhodes arrangement with wah guitar stabs and vintage organs.

Surprised is the fourth single taken from Dialect & Volkoff’s anticipated forthcoming album Glorious Definitely, due for release February 9 on Must’s label Pang Productions. The new single has an accompanying animated video by rising Melbourne illustrator Dolphin Jones.
