Nas & DJ Premier - "GiT Ready" [VIDEO]

The premiere of "GiT Ready" is the perfect visual statement for one of the most anticipated hip-hop projects in history. After 30 years of speculation, Nas and DJ Premier have finally dropped their full collaborative album, "Light-Years," proving that the chemistry first sparked on Illmatic is still going strong. "GiT Ready" is the high-energy centrepiece of the album, mixing Premier's characteristic scratch-heavy production with Nas's precise lyrics. The official video is like a movie-style celebration of a partnership that's basically the heart and soul of the genre. "Light-Years" officially dropped on December 12, 2025. It's got 15 tracks, which is the first time the duo have done a full-length collaborative effort. This project is the grand finale of a 7-album series by Mass Appeal Records. The campaign showcased new music from seven legends: Some of the artists I'm talking about are Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Big L, De La Soul, and Nas/DJ Premier. The album revisits their storied history with tracks like "NY State of Mind Pt. 3" and "3rd Childhood," bridging the gap between their 90s origins and their current mastery. Keeping it close to home, the project features only one guest verse, which is provided by the legendary AZ on "My Story Your Story." It also includes a unique collaboration with the Steve Miller Band on "It's Time." It was produced and mixed by DJ Premier, with mastering by Tony Dawsey, so it's got that classic New York sound. "GiT Ready" is a masterclass in longevity. Nas and Preemo have managed to capture that lightning in a bottle feeling of their early work, while delivering a project that feels vital and fresh in 2026. Light-Years isn't just a tribute to the past—it's a definitive look at the present state of elite hip-hop.
