“Scratch the Sun” is strange in the right way. It’s clean enough to work as a single, but too off-center to feel like it was built by formula. G Fam Black and Sankofa don’t simply ride a standard underground loop here; Tali Rodriguez gives them a beat that bends at the edges, taking the energy of a trip record and pushing it somewhere more cosmic. It stays accessible without losing its oddness, which is exactly where the track finds its personality.
