Crimeapple out of Newark has been one of the East Coast underground's most consistent voices for years his trademark: street-level narratives, bilingual between English and Spanish, always carrying a cinematic quality. "Top 85 Dead or Alive" is a six-track EP, the title pure Crimeapple: self-aware, pointed, no false claims. The EP format as a deliberate statement enough material to hold the line, not enough to lose the thread.
