Eff Yoo has always been a heavy-handed pen, but "God is an Artist" turns the blade inward. Across eight tracks, he digs into family, religion, depression, success and failure with the top-tier lyricism that's become his signature and the vulnerability doesn't dull the edge, it sharpens it. The title track flips a Bill Burr appearance into an opening statement, G.S. Advance shows up twice, and the closer "Rap City, Tha Basement" assembles Avalanche, Jus-P and Tre Eiht for a posse cut that channels the spirit of the legendary BET institution it's named after. Tracks like "Weather the Storm" and "No Rain, No Flowers (Hard Times.. pt.2)" carry the emotional core. Deeply personal without ever going soft.
