"Afro Sapiens" was recorded between 2007 and 2009 and remained unreleased until now a complete science-fiction concept album from Kid Dyno and Pensive as Moon Blazers. The narrative follows two intergalactic MCs whose peaceful planet comes under attack from a foreign fleet. Through a psychokinetic shroud created by their mentor Zahtek, they're hurled through space and time to Earth Southern California specifically where they must study humanity to help prevent its self-destruction. The second half shifts into jazzier beats and everyday commentary. Entirely produced by Kid Dyno, with the "Afro Sapiens Remix" by Katrah-Quey. Eleven tracks including skits, a fully narrated storyline running track to track. The influence list in the "Update" skit alone is a statement: Living Legends, Duke Ellington, A Tribe Called Quest, Freestyle Fellowship, Digable Planets, Wu-Tang Clan, Aesop Rock, El-P, KRS-1, Rakim a genealogy that reveals the project's artistic ambition. That this album sat unreleased for nearly two decades makes its arrival all the more significant.
