Nickelus F & Shawn Kemp „Trick Dice: Expanded Edition“ [ALBUM]

 

The original “Trick Dice” felt like a damaged composition book translated into sound: blown-out soul, irregular edits, wild schemes and a refusal to separate finished song from raw thought. Nickelus F delivered some of his most unrestrained writing, while Shawn Kemp — Lil Ugly Mane’s production identity — built a world where distortion and saturation functioned as atmosphere rather than technical flaws. The expanded edition turns the record into a 20-track session archive. Alternate takes of “Da Reaper” and “Protein” reveal different approaches to familiar material, while “Lucid Unslowed” exposes how central tempo manipulation was to the original album’s uneasy psychology. The newly surfaced cuts don’t read like deluxe-edition leftovers placed there to increase runtime. They make the sessions more legible, showing how many directions the project could have taken before its original form was locked. The remaster preserves the grime but gives its layers more definition.
