Qwazaar & Batsauce - Stoned Giant

FULL PLATE from Atlanta, Georgia presents the outstanding album "Stoned Giant" from Qwazaar and Batsauce.

Qwazaar & Batsauce - Still Here feat. Qwel + Denizen Kane of Typical Cats & Willie Evans Jr.

Many know Qwazaar from his work with his crew Typical Cats. This five-man collective were highly regarded in the underground when they came on the scene in the early ’00s. However, this Chicago emcee has been just as prolific when partnered with the world-travelling beatsmith known as Batsauce. The two met in Berlin in 2008 when Bat was living there and Qwa was on tour. Since then the duo have released three projects, and for the last year or two, they’ve been working on a fourth titled “Stoned Giant.”

Today marks the release of not only the “Stoned Giant” LP but also the video for the album’s second single “Still Here“! The song is a reunion of sorts, as Qwel and Denizen Kane of Typical Cats both join Qwa on the track. Further, Willie Evans Jr. (formerly of Asamov) also throws down a guest verse to make it a proper posse cut.

The “Still Here” visuals were animated by Batsauce himself. The muted colors and educational video-esque graphics bear a striking resemblance to Electric Company’s trippy animated shorts from the ’70s.

Qwazaar & Batsauce - No Ghosts feat. Hellsent

Qwazaar & Batsauce are back at it again with their tried and true formula of classic boom bap beats and raw raps. In case you’re not familiar, Qwa is a founding member of the renowned Chicago crew Typical Cats, while Bat was a member of the funky and now defunct Smile Rays. The Chi emcee and Jacksonville producer met in Berlin, Germany in 2008 and their instant chemistry has produced three projects since then: “Style Be The King” (2011),“ Bat Meets Blaine” (2011), and “Stress Chasers” (2014).

Their upcoming album is titled ‘Stoned Giant‘ and drops on February 5th. “No Ghosts” is the lead single and video off the project and features Bat and Qwa’s frequent collaborator Hellsent. Due to the global pandemic, and the fact that Bat is currently living in Da Nang, Vietnam, the three artists each filmed their parts separately. Nonetheless, some quality editing and a color filter bring it all together as a cohesive whole.
