Chung's Double Video For "Chung Shui" and "7030"

 

While a handful of male emcees from Toronto's new wave have garnered the respect of Hip-Hop heads worldwide, the young females from north of the 49th parallel have yet to make their mark. Well that is, until Chung came on the scene. 

Chung's 2021 EP "Chung Shui" caught the ear of tastemakers with its cinematic production and her self-assured, hardcore raps. She has already dropped three high quality videos to support the offering but she's not done yet. Today she unleashes the visuals for both the EP's title track "Chung Shui" and standout song "7030." Like all the videos off the EP, this double feature is directed by Cotola. The "Chung Shui" part of the vid is filmed in Montreal's Chinatown and features raggamuffin toaster King Shadrock, while the "7030" footage finds Chung and her girls all done up to stroll down the aisles of the local grocery store.

Canadian emcee Chung has arrived on the scene like a meteor strike. Her "Chung Shui" EP is the kind of project that only comes along once a decade. Her sharp bars, smooth voice, and Cotola's cinematic production come together in a way that seems like destiny. For those unfamiliar with Cotola, he has made waves in the underground with a full album with MAV (of The Cloth) and production on Death At The Derby's debut album.

Make sure to get a taste of the mix of kung-fu flick samples and reggae flavor on the title track, the velvety beat juxtaposed with hardcore rhymes on "High Waves," and the new era love song "Love Roller Coaster."
