No Town Vandal explores "Showbiz" with Seuss Mace

What makes someone believe they have what it takes to succeed in today’s showbiz market? That’s the question posed and explored on “Showbiz” by Toronto’s No Town Vandal and featured guest Seuss Mace, a fast-rising chopper from Topeka, Kansas. The rate of success is rare when one aims for the top. It can put a target on your back and No Town Vandal is happy to join in the target practice. With rapid-fire deliveries, NTV proclaims he “never gave a damn about hitting the big time” while Seuss declares himself “on the cusp of greatness”. The backdrop is a bouncy trap beat by Croatian producer Zepelin that would serve as the perfect soundtrack to a cartoon sneak scene. A catchy tune that continues No Town Vandal’s string of hits since his recent rebranding, “Showbiz” is on ode to “the starving artists who never give up on superstardom”.

No Town Vandal – “Vis à Vis” (ft. D-Sisive)

For the second single from his upcoming NTV EP, No Town Vandal solidifies his new rap monicker alongside an excellent guest appearance from Juno-nominee D-Sisive. Together they explore the delusional side of dreaming of rap stardom. D-Sisive deliberates on the need for a star feature to extend his rap career while serving in that capacity on “Vis à Vis” for NTV, and NTV in turn brags of piggy backing off his rap skills. He also plays the game of Six Degrees of Separation, linking himself to MF DOOM through D-Sisive. If the Vandal never blows up, at least he worked with individuals who bumped fists with some of the most iconic rappers in the game. The soundtrack to this confessional is piano- and horn-heavy boom bap bop from Fresh Kils, another Juno nominee.

Introducing "No Town Vandal"...

Introducing No Town Vandal, the name swiped from a gamer tag of a friend 15 years ago and kept on the back burner awaiting the day he was ready to embrace this name that was more true to his actual self. At the time, the MC was going by Primordial Emcee and was a founding member of Toronto rap group Faction, who would release a couple of albums and an EP before disbanding to pursue solo careers. Primordial Emcee released a single solo album with Hand’Solo Records before a name change to District Prime and the formation of a new group, Primal Winds, with MC/producer/beatboxer Iron Wind, also a prior member in Faction. Primal Winds released six albums, an EP, and a bunch of singles before breaking up. Now, he re-brands as No Town Vandal and breaks down the meaning behind the name on his self-titled first single from his upcoming NTV EP. “No Town Vandal” is a hype track with a big, banging beat from D-Low Beats out of Rome, Italy and a variety of tight flows that demonstrate a confident MC who has levelled up.
