Columbia, SC — Scholar, emcee, and cultural critic Dr. Jabari Evans (known to hip-hop fans as Naledge of Kidz in the Hall) will release his new album, Armchair Quarterback, on December 1st exclusively via EVEN, including bonus tracks for listeners who want to support him directly. The project will hit all major digital streaming platforms the following week.

Produced entirely by DeliGotBeats, Armchair Quarterback reimagines what it means to age and evolve in a culture that prizes youth. Equal parts lyrical memoir and social critique, the album finds Evans reflecting on fatherhood, legacy, authenticity, and purpose—turning grown-man perspective into poetic play-calling.

Featuring Vic Mensa, Vic Spencer, Carlitta Durand, Ryan Alexander, and Add-2, the record connects generations of Chicago artistry while weaving through the soulful textures of Black life and intellect. The production recalls the tactile feel of a Margaret Burroughs woodcut—bold, intricate, and deeply rooted in cultural craftsmanship.

“Armchair Quarterback isn’t nostalgia,” Evans says. “It’s perspective—learning how to call plays from a different position.”

The project follows his critically acclaimed Washed , an innovative mixtap/e/ssay that fused personal narrative and scholarship. As an Assistant Professor of Race and Media at the University of South Carolina, Evans continues to blur the lines between academic inquiry and artistic expression, using his music as both a teaching tool and a cultural mirror.

With Armchair Quarterback, Jabari proves that intellect and emotion, critique and creativity, can move in the same rhythm.
