With “Refuse to Surrender,” Tycobb Blends delivers a dark experiment where trip-hop noir meets uncompromising Wu-Tang horrorcore. The ethereal, almost whispering vocals of Beth Gibbons (Portishead) merge with the apocalyptic, unpredictable flow of Holocaust (Warcloud). The production is characterized by Portishead's narcotic loops and rainy melodies, over which Holocaust lays his abstract, often paranoid visions without adhering to conventional timing. Tracks like “Hign Noon Mysterons” or “Sour Ghost Times” seem like nocturnal transmissions from a collapsing world - fragile, disturbing and completely non-conformist. An album for the fringes of society that works best alone in the dark, when the line between reality and delusion blurs.
