Today's the day: The Snowgoons release Black Snow 3, the long-awaited third chapter of their iconic Black Snow series. For fans of classic, uncompromising underground hip-hop, this is a day of celebration.

The Snowgoons are hip-hop producers from Europe – specifically, from Crailsheim, Germany. The collective consists of DJ Illegal, Det, Sicknature and the Snowgoons DJ´s. For years, they have made a name for themselves in both the US and European underground hip-hop scenes with their gritty, authentic, and eclectic beats. The fact that a German production team regularly collaborates with the absolute heavyweights of American rap is still remarkable – and speaks volumes about the quality of their work.

The first Black Snow album from 2008 is considered a classic of underground boom-bap hip-hop and has achieved cult status. It was re-released in 2020 on limited-edition vinyl and CD. With Black Snow 3, the Snowgoons have now come full circle – consciously returning to their roots.

This is an impressive guest list: From Apathy and Ill Bill to PMD (EPMD) and Fredro Starr (Onyx) to Cassidy, Madchild, and Edo.G – practically every generation of US underground hip-hop is represented.

Before the album drop, the Snowgoons released, among other things, the video for "Let It Be Known" featuring PMD and Fredro Starr – two OGs who demonstrate why the '90s era was so powerful. Blackout Hip Hop: Both are among the defining figures of hardcore rap: PMD as one half of EPMD, and Fredro Starr as the frontman of Onyx.

The Snowgoons wouldn't be the Snowgoons without special physical formats for their loyal fanbase. In addition to a regular CD and classic vinyl, Black Snow 3 is also available as a special Zoetrope vinyl – a picture disc whose images animate when played on a turntable.
