James Gutierrez, known as A-F-R-O – short for All Flows Reach Out – is a California-born rapper, producer, and actor who discovered hip-hop at nine years old through Eric B. & Rakim's "Microphone Fiend" and adopted his stage name at thirteen. He was discovered at seventeen by R.A. the Rugged Man after entering a freestyle competition, and the two have since collaborated and toured worldwide. His 2016 collaboration with producer Marco Polo, facilitated by R.A., has garnered close to 10 million streams, and his feature on R.A.'s 2020 album "All My Heroes Are Dead" – specifically the track "Gotta Be Dope" – received rave reviews and over 2 million YouTube views. Starting in 2023, A-F-R-O shifted focus toward production, crafting beats for his own projects and for artists including MotionPlus, EKYM1536, Pulse Reaction, and Elena Charis. *Frequencies* represents the latest collaboration with MotionPlus, an underground Christian rapper whose 2025 album *Focus* was entirely produced by A-F-R-O after MotionPlus reached out and the two decided to continue creating together. On *Frequencies*, A-F-R-O handles twelve of sixteen productions, mixes and masters nearly everything himself, and cuts most of the scratches – only Track 15 sees SKAMM on the turntables. MotionPlus produces one track, Stu Bangas one, Counterphit and BobCatt the Legend round out the roster. Features from StrataG, Elena Charis, Alyssa Jane, EKYM1536, and Emsee Prospekt keep it within FRO's creative circle. At sixteen tracks with nothing exceeding three and a half minutes, *Frequencies* is a tight, self-contained boom bap statement that showcases A-F-R-O not just as an MC but as an architect building his own sonic world from the ground up.
