Vingthor the Hurler is the production nerve center of Asgard Records, an indie cassette label out of Elizabeth, New Jersey operating since 2011 with a total dedication to underground boom bap. His catalog spans Wu-Tang tributes, Latin rap collaborations, and lo-fi beat tapes – Jazzilator, famously produced using only a Boss SP-303, a Korg Kaossilator, and vinyl records, remains one of his best-known instrumental statements. "The Power of the Sun" is a fully committed concept album in eight chapters: a dystopian future where human greed has pushed civilization to the brink of extinction – the last survivors live beneath the surface in "The Underground Kingdom", a refuge built by Gonz and his squad of liberated rebels.
