Ace SL "St. Lazaro" [SINGLE]

Seventy-eight seconds. That is the whole release, and it is the shortest thing to come through one of these batches shorter than an interlude on most records, and issued as a single in its own right. Ace SL works out of Brooklyn, where the profile motto is "Choose Wisely," and has been releasing steadily since 2021: F.M.T.Y, then Piece of Mine with Tru Comers, then PERIDOT this summer, with a run of singles in between. The through-line is the producer Karbine, who handles most of the catalogue, who put Ace SL on both volumes of Street Politics, and with whom he made a joint album last year. Karbine is not credited on this one nothing is credited on this one so he belongs in the background, not on the track. Beyond that, there is very little to report and it would be dishonest to pad it. No producer is listed for "St. Lazaro," no label appears on the release, and the title is not explained anywhere. Ace SL has also turned up on Teeg Austin's The Squared Circle this year and put out a remix single with Rome Streetz, which places him in a specific Brooklyn-to-street-rap lane without telling us anything about this particular track. What can be said: a Brooklyn MC with three albums and a fixed producer relationship has released a seventy-eight-second single with no credits attached. Whether that is an album teaser, a statement or a fragment is not something the release says.
