The billing is a geography lesson. J Scienide records out of Washington, D.C. by way of Charlotte. Sonnyjim comes from the UK. And Morlockko Plus the producer behind the beat is Falko Luniak, better known as the Leipzig rapper Morlockk Dilemma, who has been releasing production under the Plus alias since 2011 and who turns up here twice, on the boards and on the mic. How this circle formed The connection isn't new. Luniak and Sonnyjim released the full-length Less Labour More Fruit in 2025, an album that pulled in Samy Deluxe, CRIMEAPPLE and Lee Scott alongside J Scienide who took "Five Minutes." What Morlockko Plus has effectively built over several years is a hinge between German and Anglophone underground rap, and "Slow Burner / Genghis" is that hinge working at speed: three MCs, three scenes, one beat. The track Luniak's production is the tell. Where RZA reached for soul and funk, Morlockk Dilemma has always gone for obscure film and library music, roughly 1965 to 1985 and this beat has that slightly off-centre, slightly staged quality, the sense that the sample was never meant to be a hip-hop record. The drums are placed under it rather than over it. J Scienide opens with the travelling verse Venice for lunch, splitting the bill, going Dutch and then undercuts it with the line that gives the track its name: it's just a slow burner. Sonnyjim takes the second movement and does his relaxed, food-obsessed thing ("I let the pasta simmer," "the tree smells like Madagascar vanilla"), which sounds effortless and is not. Morlockk Dilemma closes in German, and the switch in language doesn't break the record because the beat never resolves either way. pretty.dirty shot the video. Vinyl for the project goes up for presale this week through Kapitalismus Jetzt. For anyone who has been watching this German-Anglophone axis develop, this is the most concentrated version of it yet.
