"Wall Street" is not a new Kool Keith song. The original came out at the end of 2021, produced by Junkaz Lou, and later turned up as track nine on Mr. Controller. What's arriving now is the same vocal, rebuilt: Mister Modo & Ugly Mac Beer have produced it from scratch again, and the release is called a rework rather than a remix. The label's own reasoning is that the track was "completely flipped … with a fresh production," which is a distinction worth taking seriously a remix adds to the original, a rework replaces its floor. There's precedent for this pairing. In 2020 the same French outfit reworked "Wood Grain Panels" from Computer Technology with the identical arrangement: Junkaz Lou's original on one side, their version on the other, pressed as a seven-inch. This one follows that format exactly rework on the A-side, instrumental on the B on pink vinyl, 300 copies, through Beatsqueeze. Artwork is by Veenom. Three minutes seventeen, out at the end of the month. The interesting question isn't whether it's good, since nobody outside the pressing plant has heard it yet; it's that Kool Keith has spent a decade letting other producers rebuild his vocals over entirely new beds, and treating that as a release format rather than a bonus track. At 26 releases deep on his own page, this is a man who has stopped distinguishing between the catalogue and the variants.
