"Marty Vol. 1" could easily have collapsed under its guest list, but the construction keeps the hierarchy clear. Merkowitz is the two-MC unit of Dox Tha Doctrine and Syknisis, with Pro-Logic producing the full record. Canibus, KXNG Crooked, Mistah F.A.B., RZA, ETO and Holocaust bring recognisable voices, yet they operate inside one continuous producer frame rather than turning the album into a disconnected set of purchased verses. The songs are allowed to run close to traditional full-length rap form, giving the duo room to share space and develop ideas. It is labelled as the opening volume, but it doesn’t arrive like a preliminary sketch.
