An idea Ras Kass had been carrying for nearly two decades helped set *FALLOUT* in motion. The project’s announcement traces “Summer Jam” back to a record he had once tried to sample; revisiting that inspiration led to the song and then to a seven-track EP. The official video pairs Ras Kass with MJE, with Genre producing and St. Louis co-producing. William Porche directs and edits the visual. The track arrives within the release campaign for *FALLOUT*, following Ras Kass’s full-length *Leopard Eats Face*. The EP’s announced cast also includes G-Dep and X-Raided, giving “Summer Jam” a place within a wider collection of collaborations. The seasonal wording is part of the project’s stated idea. Its announcement connects the title to the shift from summer into fall, alongside themes of excess, decline and changing relationships. “Summer Jam” is identified as the creative starting point for that wider project.
