Torino The Scientist "Hood Fellas" (feat. Tragedy Khadafi) [EP]

Torino The Scientist "Hood Fellas" (feat. Tragedy Khadafi) [EP] cover

Tragedy Khadafi and UK producer Torino The Scientist give *Hood Fellas* a defined narrative brief: five vocal tracks moving through street life, robbery, incarceration, reflection and escape. The release includes an instrumental counterpart to each song, with Tragedy appearing throughout the vocal sequence. The Queensbridge MC brings a history that reaches from his early Juice Crew connections to his involvement with Capone-N-Noreaga and records including *Intelligent Hoodlum*, *Against All Odds* and *Still Reportin’*. His writing has also addressed the politics surrounding street life. Discussing “No Justice, No Peace,” he explained that he wanted to bring attention to the injustice his community experienced from the perspective of someone close to those streets. The release presents its five stages as a progression through consequences toward freedom. The sequence moves from “Organic” through “Hood Fellas,” “Captive Minds” and “Food For Thought” to “Fugitives,” the proposed endpoint of that narrative. Torino’s production setup includes an Isla Instruments S2400 sampler and vintage outboard equipment. The closing vocal track, “Fugitives,” expands the cast with Myalanksy of Wu-Syndicate and Jack Da Union. Alongside the digital release, the project is listed in black-vinyl and numbered split-splatter editions, the latter limited to 250 copies.
