The title of Spoda x Passport Rav's joint album does the map work before a single bar drops: Strong Isl, New Jerz. Nine tracks, twenty-four minutes, out now Spoda repping Bay Shore out on Long Island, Rav born in Jersey and based in Brooklyn, two catalogs meeting in the middle. The guests stay close to the respective camps: David Jame$ on "It's Me Again," Rim on "Twisted," Bub Rock on "In Time," with "Ayo Aite" already out ahead of the album. Both bring history to the table. Rav spent earlier this year on 83rd Strike, his third duo album with Bronx rapper Bloo Azul; Spoda's run stretches from Don Spoda to last year's When The Smoke Clears. Nothing here clears the four-minute mark the record gets in, makes its point and gets out, which is its own kind of statement.
