Tali Rodriguez & CLOAQxDAGGER "Devoid of Orbit V.7" [ALBUM]

Seventh instalment of Tali Rodriguez's Devoid of Orbit series, and the change this time is structural. According to Rodriguez, production on previous volumes came from elsewhere; for V.7, CLOAQxDAGGER the duo of Mathias and Crack Sizzlack handled the music and the mixing and mastering. His own comment on the arrangement: "hooray for that." You can hear why it would matter. An album where the people who built the beats also set the levels tends to sound like one object rather than a collection of sessions, and seven tracks is the right length to test that. The Atlanta MC keeps his vocals at the centre of it credits list him on vocals, CLOAQxDAGGER on music, with no division of labour fudged. Three guests come through: Money Mogly on "The Gains," and G Fam Black and P-Ro together on "The Anthem," which at just over four minutes is the longest record here and the one most likely to justify its length. The rest are short "The Splinterlude" is an interlude at one seventeen, and most tracks land between two thirty and three fifteen which keeps the album as a single sitting. P-Ro also did the artwork. Rodriguez lists affiliations with Knuckle Dragguz and Wxtch Wxlvez. A series entry from an artist who keeps making them, with the production finally under one roof. If you've followed Devoid of Orbit this far, this is the volume where the sound should lock in.
