Boneweso has become one of the more reliable names in the current underground production pool stark, purposeful beats that make room for the MC rather than competing with him, and a steady output through his own 23 Incredible Industries imprint. "Rules & Regulations" pairs him with Writeous Ruler, and it first surfaced earlier this year as the lead single from their collaborative album Gold Mind, Silver Tongue. The video is new, shot by Oneeyefilms. The track runs about two and a half minutes and does exactly what a lead single is supposed to: establishes the tone without exhausting the project. Ruler's delivery is commanding and unhurried, and the chemistry reads as a working relationship rather than a booking the two have appeared on each other's records repeatedly, including Boneweso's The Cost of Gold with Codenine, where Ruler takes "Channel 3." The album is billed with features from Estee Nack, BoriRock, The Hidden Character and Codenine, which places it firmly in that Massachusetts–New York axis of the underground that Boneweso operates in. Covered here when the single dropped; this is the visual.
