For JAY NiCE, recording with RU$H began with his older cousin taking him into studios while he was still in high school. Years later, RU$H appears twice on Rise & Shine, his album with Dough Networkz, now available through DITCD.COM in a CD edition with a numbered obi strip. Originally released in 2023 through Harun and Dough Networkz Presents, it brings NiCE’s family connections and Dough’s work connecting artists into the same orbit. In a 2020 interview with Throw Up Magazine, the Delaware rapper recalled stealing RU$H’s copies of Supreme Clientele and Capital Punishment, two records he said changed his life. Their partnership subsequently produced Famili and Fly Art, the latter featuring Roc Marciano and Willie The Kid. On Rise & Shine, RU$H joins him for “Gods In Supreme” and “Geese Howard.” Dough’s route into the business also began with a personal connection. His friend Poly Rob appointed him A&R at Polidony ENT in 2000, handing him a book so he could learn the job. In a 2021 interview with UndergroundHipHopBlog, the Inglewood native described how Jay Worthy later helped him meet artists while he assembled Broken Cuffz 2. Worthy introduced him to Westside Gunn, whose invitations opened further doors, including a connection with Flee Lord. Flee appears alongside Estee Nack on Rise & Shine’s “Tim Duncan,” adding an artist from that earlier chapter of Dough’s networking to the album.
