Occam's Razor by Calcei x Ohkang featuring Gregg Green

"Occam's Razor" is Calcei's second in a series of one-producer albums following 2023's "Groundworks" with Pimpernel Jones.
The album reunites Calcei with his longtime Detroit collaborator, producer/emcee/DJ Ohkang, one half of the duo Blackreign and Ohkang. Ohkang's soulful production is heavily influenced by his love of jazz, soul, and Detroit flavor.
"Occam's Razor" also features the talents of Netherlands-based emcee/singer Gregg Green, who lends his skilled, politically potent and personal lyrics to four tracks.
The album blends socially conscious lyrics with clever wordplay over poignant boom bap production.
Pimpernel Jones adds his signature cuts and scratches and also engineered the project.

Calcei - American Splendor

Sacramento based emcee Calcei's new album "American Splendor" was inspired by the ongoing pandemic and its sociopolitical ramifications. The "American" side is political and dystopian. Cynicism and malaise drip from the biting lyrics.
However, the "Splendor" side is lighter, more humorous, and whimsical. The dichotomy in tone and content mirrors the experience of many people during these trying times.
Production is provided by frequent collaborators Olos, Pimpernel Jones, Monplacebo, and Beatnick Classics. Mike E Eyebrowz also contributes sonically. All cuts and scratches are performed by Pimpernel Jones. PJ also mixed and mastered the project.

Calcei and DJ Archives Are the Bowling League

The Bowling League is emcee Calcei, from Detroit -- now residing in Sacramento, and veteran Chicago turntabilist DJ Archives, who has worked with Southside stalwarts No I.D. and Primeridian.
After collaborating on Calcei's previous album "What Starts Today", Calcei suggested forming a duo with Archives. Inspired by DJ/Emcee combos like Premier and Guru and Eric B and Rakim, the Bowling League pays homage to the past while keeping it fresh in the present.
With classic production from Beatnick Classic, Olos, Monplacebo, TNV, Keef Boxx and Pimpernel Jones (who also mixed and mastered the album), the Bowling League is hip hop dedicated to grown folks still following their passion.
