Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire remembers being late to the party when he first got into underground hip hop. In his immediate circle, the sounds of the time were D Block, Fabolous, Jeezy, etc. It was during this time that Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire discovered what they call "the underground. He worked in downtown Manhattan in Soho at the Adidas store. This period opened him up to a whole new ecosystem of music, art, fashion and thought. A world within the world of NY. Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire remembers his brain being set on fire by the ride on the F train, the smell of Alphabet City, DQM, Sugar Headquarters, the graffiti and the grungey simplicity of downtown. Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire could feel the tingling in his brain, the feeling of new ground beneath his feet...Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire often thought, "I wonder if Basquiat walked down this block?" He has a love for classic buildings, he remembers the little elements of previous eras that remain, like the old CBGB's on the Bowery, places like Burkina and the Bowery Poets Cafe. The first time Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire heard MF Doom, Sean Price, Saigon... it was a mystery to him. The sounds, the references, the outlook on life, nothing had ever spoken to me in such a unique way before. Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire is very, very grateful for these experiences, for these dreams, they kept me going... here is a tribute in gratitude. I remember the era when I first began to get into underground Hip Hop, I was late to the party so to speak. In my immediate circle the sounds of the time were D Block, Fabolous, Jeezy etc. it was during this time when I discovered what they call "the underground".
