Vlog - D Prime 215 x Hezekiah - Live From Hysteria Behind The Scenes

You can’t mention Philly and Hip Hop without including D Prime 215. Consistently releasing music representing 215, the superb lyricist, bestows fans with a behind the scenes look into the creation of his new single “Live from Hysteria” produced by Hezekiah. The single is taken from his critically acclaimed album ‘Forever In A Day.’

Embark on this journey compacted with rhymes and bars depicting the hysteria that surrounds Prime…no hooks needed. “Sonically, it’s a bar heavy record. When I heard the beat from Hezekiah I wanted to create something in the vein of “Making a Murderer” by Black Thought and Styles P.”

The vlog captures the process Hezekiah and Prime go through including recording variations of his vocals. He adds a dynamic twist with adlibs and different voice pitches, which for those familiar with Prime, is a step outside the box for him.

“I speak on a number of my influences from  Big Daddy Kane, Mase, KRS-One & Slick…not name dropping to be portrayed as cool or cultured.” Prime authentically mentions how they coincide with his own style and flow as a lyricist.  I want it known that I didn't come up out of a hand. I'm influenced by the greats before me, but I'm not here to recreate the wheel. I'm carving my lane, but not afraid to pay homage…”

D Prime 215 - 10,000 Flowers (Video) of 'Forever in a Day' EP

D Prime 215 never disappoints when it comes to quick-witted punchlines, genius wordplay, and an impeccable flow. “10,000 Flowers” is no exception. “I’m a renegade when I hear the beat it’s time to mutilate, put the blade to my vein.”

The video begins with Prime catching up with some friends who notice flowers on his attire. He then breaks down the formula for them, “10,000 hours can lead to mastery. One thing we should master is giving love to those who love us. 10,000 Flowers. One Flower Per Hour. Love with the intent of mastering it. Wake Up. Press Play. Love Yours. One.”

That quickly transcends into the depth of the track, fueled with four minutes of lyrical jewels and gems that encompass Prime’s personal truths, booth profession shine, and an empowering lifestyle. Johann Sebastian provides a 70’s vibe with funky bass while DJ Soulbuck swarms in to heighten the paragon with his signature ‘fix your face’ cuts and scratches.

D Prime 215 "What They Tell Us" Video Produced by Johann Sebastian

Philly’s own prolific emcee, D Prime 215 delivers more mind-blowing realities in his latest video “What They Tell Us.” The single/video, produced by Johann Sebastian, is off Prime’s latest “Sacred Mantra” EP, available on all major platforms.

“Mass media controls how many people get their news. The issue is, it’s not always accurate or close to it. When it comes to Black Folk, accurate isn’t even a thought most of the time. Negative statistics and stereotypes permeate the media as the overpowering narrative. This one-sided narrative is viewed as Gospel by those who don’t come in to contact with Black Folk on a regular basis if at all. As a Black Man, being viewed as the sum of negativity is asinine to me, as if that’s ALL we are. This record is my 2 Cents on it. I present to you “What They Tell Us.” Press Play.” – D Prime 215

The video is a simple one, just D Prime walking through his city of brotherly love. Because of his intricate wordplay and ingenious lyricism, there’s no need for gimmicks to entice viewers in. Also, a mini-film or animation, etc., would just take away from Prime’s lyrical declaration.

Prime addresses stereotypes placed on African Americans repeatedly for centuries. He also claims his human stance, free of felonies and other negative connotations. He goes on to mention that deliberately damaging advancements for African Americans must come to an end.  It makes you raise an eyebrow and wonder if others were just born jealous.  Prime delivers his revolutionary rhymes over chilling, hair-raising production blended with classic cuts and scratches. Watch “What They Tell Us” and connect with D Prime 215 and Johann Sebastian below.

About D Prime 215
In the English language, the word "Prime" is defined as "of first importance".
One could certainly say that Philadelphian emcee D Prime 215 has christened himself appropriately, as hip-hop has been of first importance in this young man's life since he picked up a pad and pen in 2009. You can hear the warm, "golden era" sounds of J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest and hometown heroes The Roots pulsing through his music, but with an updated, current twist. Prime's held his own on wax with underground veterans like Reef the Lost Cauze, Hezekiah and Has-Lo, and shared the stage with heavyweight names such as Torae and Marco Polo. His approach is straightforward, his words honest, and his work ethic diligent. D Prime 215 is on a mission to create songs that stand the test of time, and with his unique blend of the old and the new, he's sure to accomplish just that.

Philly Emcee D Prime 215 Drops "Sacred Mantra" Visuals

Esteemed Philly lyricist D Prime 215 and producer Hezekiah release visuals for “Sacred Mantra.” The single/video is the title track off Primes’ second solo EP, available everywhere music is sold.

Prime wastes no time to deliver his flow over classic boom-bap cadences blended with sharp electric tones. The simple video leaves no room for distraction, only eyes and ears digesting infectious, conscious wordplay.

Prime takes great pride in being true to oneself and “Sacred Mantra” is no exception. With his feet planted firmly, Prime’s bars run his narrative. A narrative of a man who has “no room for houses and cars, but my word is bond.”

The intricate wordsmith reminders listeners that at the end of the day our words and actions are all we have to fall back on. Prime will continue to stay true while he lives out his dreams. Watch “Sacred Mantra” (directed by JL Jupiter) and connect with D Prime 215 and Hezekiah below.
