With "Black Water," Doeface delivers a truly cohesive work, deeply rooted in the Californian underground. Behind the artist name is Jonathan Echeverria, who forged a very special alliance for this project: none other than Fresno legend Fashawn produced the entire album, laying down a dusty yet soulful foundation for the eleven tracks. Highlights like "Allah Mathematics" and the atmospheric "Escape From Fresno" perfectly capture the Central Valley vibe, while features from Brian Cade and Ricky Grimes ("Enigma") add extra spice. Thanks to Robert Zarate at the mixing desk, the sound comes through crystal clear via the label "The Points." This West Coast lyricism demonstrates that Fashawn also has a damn good ear for hungry MCs behind the mixing board.
