Collective Mind Records present Murphz VS Dead. For any hip hop heads who prioritise vocabulary over front. After years working promoting the best of the UK Hip Hop scene, co-running the OG online platform UKHH.com and his own Brain Scran label, Murphz introduces his own music with a full LP as the debut release. In collaboration with prolific Oxford based producer Dead Ott; a nerd’s rap patchwork of bars compiled over years, spanning the dystopian, ridiculous, vexed and unnecessarily wordy.
There's a mad story behind this one. Murphz has been rapping in the shadows for years, never stepping into the limelight with an offical release. Due to a chronic condition of 'not finishing shit', he decided to record his debut album in secret, without even the producer Dead Ott's knowledge! Choosing 10 instrumentals from Dead Ott's extensive back catalogue, Murphz then spent 3 years finding time amongst working 2 jobs to go studio and record and edit 'Murphz Vs Dead'. Once completed and given the Dead Ott stamp of approval, Murphz wasn't happy to put the album out on his own label, so sent it around to a select few dope underground UK labels. The album was picked up by Collective Mind Records, and the rest is history.
