1DV — Um Degrau Por Vez, one step at a time — roots its identity in Ilha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro. “Raízes” is built around collective memory rather than retro worship. Lobk, PH, Camuri and Felipe Pipo operate as a crew, with Pipo also producing and mixing. DJ DLmix adds scratches and collage work, Paulo Jeveaux handles mastering, and Bruxo da Serra provides the visual identity. The title track makes the lineage clear: nineties boom bap, Wu-informed group discipline and writing concerned with faith, neighborhood memory and survival. Those reference points are absorbed into a specifically Brazilian experience rather than copied from New York. The record speaks from Rio’s alleys, rooftops and spiritual vocabulary while retaining the direct drum-and-sample language that shaped the group.
