Blaze Gee "DARKSIDE" [VIDEO]

Blaze Gee comes out of Springfield, Massachusetts by the look of the tags boom bap, street music, and the rest and "DARKSIDE" is a new video shot by Lavish Life Films over a Jamar Johnson beat. It runs under two minutes, and that's the honest scale of it. The verse is a straight piece of street economy with no hook cushion: "My first four bricks of sniff cut them all in half / Then gave eight [] five and I saw the math." It's craft talk the arithmetic of cutting product, the standard he holds himself to ("If the coke ain't locking correct, then it's not me") and then it turns, which is where the record earns its two minutes. "The laws we living by daily and the oaths we took / Glad I don't got [] to hide, I'm a open book." And the line that closes the thought: "I lost it all, discipline is what it taught me." That's a rarer move than it sounds. Most street records either celebrate or mourn; this one does the accounting. "Writing rhymes only time that I'm telling truth" sits in the middle of it as the justification. No label, no mix credits, no biographical material available on the artist three separate searches turned up nothing, so this stays close to the record. Almost two minutes, and worth them.
