Three names in the billing do not mean three MCs on Datkid’s “Virus” single: the Bristol rapper is joined by producers Illinformed and Dumb Logic. Their contribution goes beyond dividing a beat list between them. For the forthcoming High Focus Records album *Very Heavy Lead*, the two producers worked collaboratively across the tracks, playing instruments and developing the productions together. “Virus” sits inside that eighteen-track project rather than arriving as an unrelated placement. Datkid and Illinformed already have an album-length reference point in *WAKMO*. This release extends that connection with Dumb Logic sharing the production role, making the beatmaking partnership itself part of the story. That is the detail to hold onto before assigning the record a generic boom-bap description. The production has a documented working method: two beatmakers building together around one lead rapper. “Virus” offers another entry into that collaboration while the full album remains ahead.
