Leimert Park is a South Los Angeles neighborhood that functions as the historical center of Black LA cultural life jazz, spoken word, visual art, Afrocentric institutions. The World Stage, the Kaos Network, Vision Theatre, and a continuous tradition connecting Charles Mingus performances to Kendrick Lamar's early career all run through the same few blocks. DJ Hectik1 produces and co-directs alongside Big Bo, UTK writes the lyrics, Big Bo Visuals handles cinematography. Naming a track after a place this loaded is not incidental: it's a documentation act for a neighborhood fighting continuous displacement.
