Hus Kingpin put out WAVO FOREVER earlier this year eleven tracks with Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Kurupt, Killah Priest, Planet Asia, Tricky and Wu-Syndicate on it and followed it with a 36 mix, a Threesome 6 full-length and a Kingpin Remixes volume. A ninety-second record is a small move in that context, which is exactly what makes it worth noting. "100 Days Away" is from the third instalment of his Secret Tape series, produced and cut by Tito Da OG. It's a fragment rather than a single: a loop, a verse, a repeated line "I put my hands on the wave and pray" and it's over before a hook would have been useful. The writing is impressionistic, closer to mood than to narrative ("I could walk through the middle of your dream"), and the Kingpin voice is the one he's had since Hempstead: staggered, grizzled, sitting just off the beat rather than squarely on it. Born in Brooklyn and repping Hempstead, Long Island the same strip of ground that produced Roc Marciano he has spent a decade perfecting a distant, refracted New York sound without making commercial concessions. The Secret Tape material is where he keeps that sound loose. Ninety seconds. If you've been following the 2026 run, it's another entry. If you haven't, start with WAVO FOREVER and work backwards.
