"Sotterrain" is the first official video from Bonaparte, an album that has been out since the end of June so the record isn't new, but the visual is, and it's the one the trio chose to lead with. The project is a three-way operation: Jakebeatz produces, Micky Gargano and CHILZ rap, DJ Tray handles the cuts. The description frames it as French and Italian rap meeting Jakebeatz's beats, though it doesn't say which MC works in which language, and I'm not going to guess. Tray's turntable work is credited explicitly, which is the detail worth noting scratch credits are rare enough on contemporary European releases to be worth naming. Manoo shot the video. It runs two minutes thirty-four, through PW Records. Given that this is the first visual from a four-month-old album, the sensible way to listen is as a re-entry point rather than a single. The trio format one producer, two MCs, one DJ is a configuration that European underground rap has been using well for years, and this one is unusually clear about who does what.
