The Dirty Sample reveals "The Vision"

One look and the chaos of the world comes together into unity. All of this madness leads the eyes to love, and love is seen everywhere. Even the darkest places still have love. You just have to be looking. Because love always wins if you let it. You just need the vision. And The Dirty Sample helps inspire this vision with a chill boom bap beat built out of slamming drums and horn stabs.

The Dirty Sample delivers Beats To Murder Rappers 2

Calgary producer The Dirty Sample goes darker for volume 2 in his horrorcore beat tape series. Beats To Murder Rappers 2 is a horrendous, spine-tingling thrill ride through 20 tracks built upon a foundation of boom bap drums augmented by  only the finest notes and strings plucked from Halloween soundtracks alongside vocal samples from horror b-movies. While the digital album drops on Halloween, the cassette tape dropped early as an official Cassette Week 2024 release. MCs beware as you enter the horrifying world of Beats To Murder Rappers 2.

The Dirty Sample - Don't F@#k With Witches

The third single from Beats To Murder Rappers 2, the upcoming beat tape from The Dirty Sample, is a dedication to the witches who work with the energies of the universe. On “Don’t F@#k With Witches”, an unnatural wind blows over a mid-tempo boom bap drum beat as the remaining elements of the instrumental switch between a series of slow synth notes and a bunch of little creepy samples. It’s the perfect soundtrack for cooking up that evil curse. Now you know, you don’t f@#k with witches!

Swim the depths with The Dirty Sample and "Die in the Deep"

For the second single from his upcoming instrumental album, Beats To Murder Rappers 2, The Dirty Sample gets deep. But he’s no longer underground, he’s underwater. You don’t want to get too close to the water’s edge or you’ll be dragged down into the depths of this dark, murky beat to be toyed with like orcas with their prey. Dragged to the bottom to “Die in the Deep”. And you thought it was finally safe to go near the water!

The Dirty Sample - "The Darkness"

“The Darkness” is the first single from The Dirty Sample’s sequel to his dark and deadly beat tape, Beats To Murder Rappers To, released last year. The series blends banging boom bap and b-movie aesthetics for a perfect soundtrack to the Halloween season. “The Darkness” serves as an homage to carnival mad houses - its mirrored walls, trap doors, ghouls, and murderers. With a backdrop of heavy drums, bass synths, and eerie/airy effects, it’s easy to imagine your most hated rapper trapped in this house, going mad, and falling to their death through a candle-lit trap door onto a bed of broken glass. This is only the first beat treat of three leading to the release of Beats To Murder Rappers 2 on Halloween.

The Dirty Sample - Beats to Murder Rappers to (instrumental album)

The Dirty Sample’s new instrumental album is no trick; it’s all treat! Dropping on October 28, 2022, just in time for Halloween, Beats to Murder Rappers to is filled with creepy, quirky instrumentals that should entertain whether you need a soundtrack for your costume party, to hand out candy, to carve up the pumpkin, or, as the title suggests, to murder rappers to, metaphorically speaking, of course. The album runs the gamut from soulful, off-kilter doo-wop (“Linger”) to atmospheric chillers (“Headless”) to warped boom bap instrumentals (“In the Mirror He Waits [One for Rob Roy]”), and even picks up the pace from the usual downtempo vibes for a rare chunky synth beat down (“Twisted Pleasure”). This horrific holiday season, join us on a journey into the warped mind of murderous beat slayer The Dirty Sample.

The Dirty Sample - Headless (single)

“Headless” is the third single from The Dirty Sample’s upcoming instrumental album, Beats to Murder Rappers to, fittingly set for release on Halloween weekend. An ode to the storytelling of horror maestro Vincent Price, “Headless” finds inspiration in his retelling of Washington Irving’s classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, with the Calgary, AB producer incorporating a horse’s gallop as percussion alongside the bass drum and short snare drum loop. The high end is a bit of cymbal, triangle, and a nearly constant high-pitched tone. Further atmosphere is added with wind effects and a horse’s neighing. It’s a haunting horrorcore beat well-suited to the start of October. One would be wise to take heed of “Headless”.

The Dirty Sample - Linger (single & video)

Evolving from a short doo-wop intro into an off-kilter soulful instrumental, The Dirty Sample’s “Linger” was a bit of a fluke. During a beat-making session, the reclusive producer from Calgary, AB, put on a record, stepped away to grab his coffee, and a perfect loop of a skip happened. Rumour has it he lingered. And then he dropped a meaty bunch of drums behind it. “It was an eerie moment” is how The Dirty Sample describes this ghost skip, a possibly supernatural phenomenon that resulted in a great first single for his upcoming instrumental album, Beats to Murder Rappers To, The Dirty Sample’s creepy new instrumental album dropping Halloween weekend. Put it on and linger. There’s much more to come!

Ol' Gorilla Bones x The Dirty Sample - Revenge Vol. 1 Instrumentals

A veteran of the Calgary, AB rap scene, The Dirty Sample is best known as a producer, but he has ventured often into MC territory under various monickers, including Planit, Crash Silverback, Apeface and now Ol’ Gorilla Bones. HIs latest collaboration with himself, as OGB and TDS for Revenge Vol. 1, appropriately dropped on Hand’Solo Records on Friday the 13th in May 2022. The highlight was his vengeful return to rapping, but now it’s the producer’s time to shine with the release of the instrumental version of the album. The production is both dark and ugly, and plenty quirky. The album features the popping and crackling of vinyl that one would expect from a producer calling himself The Dirty Sample, as well as heavy hitting drums, stabs of soul, and creepy vocal samples. This is the territory in which The Dirty Sample excels.
