"Deffaz" (pronounced "Deh-Fazz") is classic Toronto slang a resounding slap, a physical regulation, an answer to wayward talk delivered with a powerful strike. Theo3 (also Theology 3) and DJ Unknown build a four-track EP from that around chest-thumping basslines and hard-driving lyrical drive. DJ Unknown produces, mixes and masters entirely, Theo3 writes. "Days of the Deffaz," "Let Me Do My Thing," "Citywide," "Watch It Burn" keep the format compact and direct. Artwork by Ilango, executive producer Wayne Boothe. Both artists are described as "highly respected" in the release notes a sign this connection already has history in the Toronto underground. The EP brings "a familiar feeling" classic storytelling over driving production, no detours.
