Back Block Music Group & Kendu 718 "Gritty" [SINGLE + INTERVIEW]

NY rapper Kendu 718 and Back Block Music Group LLC announce the release of his new single "Gritty." Produced by Juxx Diamondz, the record hits with true NY flavor; aggressive and intimidating. Although his message is simple, he's writing bars and putting out heat, his signature blend of lyricism and storytelling looped with slick metaphors annihilates. Get to know Kendu 718 below and stream "Gritty."

MJ: Before we jump into your new single "Gritty," take a moment to let the world know who Kendu 718 is.

Kendu 718: Kendu 718 is someone who really lives what he talks about. I come from the pain of the ghetto—both my mother and father struggled with drug addiction, and growing up, all I saw was crime, poverty, and hardship. That was my environment. But through God’s grace, I was able to change my life. I left the streets behind 17 years ago, and I’ve been clean and abstinent from drugs and alcohol ever since.

MJ: When I think of gritty New York Hip Hop, you fit the mark. Define your lane in Hip Hop.

Kendu 718: I’m part of the culture, this isn’t something I picked up, it’s something I’ve lived. Hip-hop is a lifestyle, not just something you do in the studio. I’m not chasing trends or trying to fit into what’s popular. I represent authenticity, experience, and real New York energy. I’ve been doing this for years, and my lane is staying true to the essence of the culture.

MJ: Let’s talk about the new single "Gritty." What can listeners expect once they hit play?

Kendu 718: The truth. Straight up. Real-life stories that reflect what I’ve been through and what I’ve seen in the streets. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it shows survival. When you hit play, you’re stepping into reality—no gimmicks, no filters. “Gritty” is my story. It’s everything I lived and everything I witnessed. But more importantly, it’s a message—just because we come from struggle doesn’t mean we have to stay there. We can grow, change, and build responsible, productive lives.

MJ: How did you link up with Juxx Diamondz and Back Block Music Group LLC?

Kendu 718: That connection goes back. I met Juxx through a mutual friend—rest in peace to the OG Benny Hill from Harlem, who managed both of us around 2011–2012. That foundation built real chemistry, and from there, everything developed naturally.

MJ: Can audiences anticipate a visual to "Gritty?"

Kendu 718: Definitely. Me and Juxx Diamondz are currently putting the treatment together now. The visual is going to match the energy of the track—raw, authentic, and true to the story.

MJ: What is next for Kendu 718? What are you currently working on?

Kendu 718: Right now, I’m working on my EP titled From God’s Mouth to Y’all Ears: The Sermon. It’s produced by myself and Juxx Diamondz, with additional production from SaulyOBeats, SkullzAngels, and my guy Dreadful Krueger. Everybody brought heat to the project. We also have some dope features on it.

MJ: Give audiences a little more insight into the sound and movement behind the project.

Kendu 718: We’re putting this out independently through Back Block Music Group, with distribution through Roc Nation. The project is a combination of strong lyricism, real-life storytelling, and powerful features. We represent that golden era sound—we’re keeping that foundation alive. And we’re always boots on the ground, staying connected to the people and the culture.

MJ: Let everyone know where they can find your music and stay connected.

Kendu 718: You can find my music on all digital streaming platforms. Follow me @Kendu_718 on Instagram to stay locked in. This is just the beginning—it’s going to be a hot summer. Peace.

NY Hip Hop Artist & Entrepreneur OSVN Calls Out Society In "Long Live The Cow"

NY-based Hip Hop artist & entrepreneur OSVN ruffles feathers with his new single "Long Live The Cow." Known and respected for his prolific wordplay that brings to light what society sweeps under household mats, OSVN brings the cow to the forefront. Read more below and stream "Long Live The Cow."

"Long Live the Cow" is a sharp, thought-provoking critique of modern society, where the unnatural has become normal, and where once-sacred truths are traded for synthetic solutions. OSVN confronts the distorted realities of our time: artificial food, corrupt politics, misleading education, and spiritual misdirection.

The cow—an animal held sacred in many cultures—is symbolic here. In America, it has been exploited and slaughtered, just like the people. Now, in a world driven by profit and progress, even the cow is being reengineered; Printed, cloned, and served up without soul.

This song is not just about meat. It’s about meaning. It’s about asking, are these modern practices healing us or harming us? Are we evolving—or erasing ourselves?

Jus P & Body Bag Ben Deliver 'Fortune Favors The Bold' EP With Accompanied Interview

Critically acclaimed indie Hip Hop artist Jus P returns with new music. The 6-track EP 'Fortune Favors The Bold' is produced by Body Bag Ben and comes equipped with heavyweight features. P delivers bold lyricism that captures his wins and losses, no holds barred yet entertains the whole way through. Tap in below for an interview with Jus P for more on the EP, what fans can expect, being transparent in his music, upcoming videos, and more.

MJ: You just released a new project titled 'Fortune Favors The Bold' which follows the heels of 'Black Canvas.' The cover art alone speaks volumes about the project. Talk a little bit about the thought and mindset that went into 'Fortune Favors The Bold.'

Jus P: Fortune Favors The Bold was conceptualized and inspired by the film The Spook Who Sat By The Door. The film is about a black man who takes his C.I.A. training back to Chicago and teaches the street gangs how to organized and fight back against oppression. The skits are well thought out clips from the movie. The cover art is a picture of a group of Black Panthers. Our mindset on this project is 2 freedom fighters risking it big for the good of the people.

MJ: The 6-track project comes equipped with heavyweight features including Ruste Juxx, Solomon Childs, and Eff Yoo. Did you know going into the project they were the 'it factor' for those particular tracks?

Jus P: Each feature is organic and every artist is someone I genuinely deal with. I met Ruste on tour in El Paso Texas. Solomon is someone I've been working with my whole career on almost every project. Eff Yoo is family. So it's only right to get them on this project.

MJ: You are famed for delivering authentic NY Hip Hop with messages intended to open ears and eyes, and this project is no exception. Without giving too much away, shed some light on the tracks "Penitentiary Chances" and "Bloodseed."

Jus P: Penitentiary Chances is me reflecting on my past experiences incarcerated in a cautionary way. Blood seed is about exposing the falsehoods of these rapper’s people look up to.

MJ: What impact on fans, communities, and Hip Hop do you foresee the project having?

Jus P: The impact I foresee this project having is first adding to my legacy through catalogue. Also letting people learn from experiences wins and losses.

MJ: Are there any accompanying videos to 'Fortune Favors The Bold" that audiences can check out?

Jus P: Videos are definitely on the way. First up is Snake bite with Ruste Juxx coming asap

MJ: Take this time to share anything else you'd like about the project.

Jus P: Shout out to the brother Body Bag Ben for being a master producer on the boards. This project us unlike any other project either of us has done. A lot of lessons as well as entertainment on this project. Be sure to check it…

NY Hip Hop Artist Jus P Unveils 'Black Canvas' Album & Interview

Famed NY indie artist Jus P releases his highly anticipated album 'Black Canvas.' The project overflows with gritty NY Hip Hop. In the interview below Jus P discusses the creation process, what fans can expect, his mantra for creating timeless music, what's next, and more.

MJ: Before we dive right into the release of your brand-new album, let everyone know who Jus-P is.

Jus P: I’m Jus P also known as the Black Menace. I’m a Queen's representative by way of Long Island, adding on to true Hip Hop culture.

MJ: Your new album 'Black Canvas' features a diverse group of producers and artists. Tell us about the thought process of choosing this selection of producers as well as the guest features on the album.

‘Black Canvas’ on Apple Music - ‎Black Canvas by JUS-P on Apple Music

Jus P: The album is a collection of songs that each have their own unique origin story.  Whether those records were supposed to be used for different projects and didn't happen or just me working on my own, there is a unique origin story to how I the artist, and the producer came together on any song on the album. I took those different records and blended them into a cohesive artistic body of work like a painter on a canvas.

MJ: The album hits heavy with an east coast, gritty vibe. Each track out of the 15 conveys distinct, real-life messages. One of my top favorites is "Inglorious Bastards." It exudes a gripping lyrical performance. Talk a bit about that record.

Jus P:  “Inglorious Bastards” was a record that was out before I got a hold of it. I met the producer through Killa Kali from Gold Chain Military. We decided to remix it adding my verse. My verse is about how my real-life experiences separate me from artists who exaggerate theirs.

MJ: "The Art of War" is another hair-raising track just from the intro alone, you can feel the emotiveness from each syllable. Share a bit about "The Art of War."

Jus P: “The Art of War” was produced by Dirty Diggs and was originally for a full-length Jus P / Killa Kali project years back. Due to scheduling conflicts, we couldn't complete it. I kept my original verse and got with GS ADVANCE who added a raw powerful verse as well as the hook.

MJ: What can audiences and fans expect from this album? What is it that you want audiences and listeners to take away from the lyrical experience?

Jus P: Fans can expect a gritty and amazing piece of art with the work of many different artists and collaborators. I want the audience to take away the advice and jewels that are in the lyrics as well as the skill and the art of the wordplay.

MJ: You have a signature style, flow, energy, and incomparable deliverance. What separates you from other artists? What is it about Hip Hop that keeps you striving for more?

Jus P: I'm a very creative person who also lives a distinct and interesting life.  Many different life experiences I’ve been through or encountered I put into my music. What motivates me is being able to add to Hip Hop culture and its legacy…contributing my part to history.

MJ: It's fair to say 'Black Canvas' is an album you can listen to in 2023 and play again in 10 years and still feel as if it was the first time your ears experienced it. What's your ingredient or secret weapon to creating timeless music that both the older generation and the new generation can embrace?

Jus P: The secret ingredients for me are honesty and creativity…creatively and honestly telling my truth.

MJ: Take this time to let fans know of any upcoming shows, events, or upcoming music or projects they can expect from 2023.

Jus P: Next up is the Body Bag Ben produced EP ‘Fortune Favors The Bold.’

MJ: Is there anything else you want to share with the world about 'Black Canvas' the album?

Jus P: Be sure to check out ‘Black Canvas’ the album, out now on all streaming platforms. It’s a grimy piece of  HipHop art and culture.  Shouts to all collaborators, and peace to all my fans and family worldwide.

City The Great, NY Stapleton & Protege of Special Ed, Pushes The Culture Forward

City The Great is a NY Stapleton, Hip Hop artist, CEO, and protege of Special Ed. This comes after diligent hard work 24/7 to perfect a craft that was introduced at the age of nine when he wrote his first rap "F*ck School." As they say, the rest was history. He knew once that ink touched paper his destiny was sealed. As City matured so did his music and his catalog began to grow with a series of mixtapes, studio albums, and even collaborations with Hip Hop legends and pioneers. In fact, once his music hit Special Ed's ears he immediately signed him as the first artist under his label semedia. " I was taken back, City The Great is refreshing to the ears, his realness is authentic and he strives to keep the culture and elements of Hip Hop alive." -Special Ed

It doesn't just stop at rap/music for City The Great. His mission goes beyond that. As the CEO of Certified Nation Entertainment he scouts and signs like-minded talent who also shares his vision to bridge the generation gap in Hip Hop. To further, he's also linked with Kool Rock Ski of The Fat Boys to co-orchestrate the Annual Classic Hip Hop and R&B Cookout in NY, which brings together old and new schools of Hip Hop for music, food, and good vibes. "He has great talent and is making incredible moves in the industry, he keeps me young and motivated, this is just the beginning." - Kool Rock Ski

Both Special Ed, Kool Rock Ski, among other founding fathers of Hip Hop are impressed with Great’s ability to reach the masses, globally via his perfect blend of traditional and new-age lyricism and wordplay, with respect to the culture and elements.
