Nam Nitty "CRACK BABY 4 : MICHELE'S BABY BOY" [ALBUM]

Three installments in, Nam Nitty has a format. Crack Baby arrived in 2020, Crack Baby Too three years later, CRACK BABY III in 2024 and now the fourth, ten tracks and thirty-five minutes, out on his own Secret Sosiety Entertainment. He is the CEO, and on the earlier volumes he was also the entire production desk: "produced entirely by Nam Nitty," mixed, arranged, executive produced. He has been described as emcee, producer, videographer and fashion designer in the same breath, which in his case isn't a press flourish so much as a job description for running an independent label. The guest list shows what that independence buys. Ten tracks, nearly every one carrying a feature, and the same names circling back: Tone Spliff twice, Voice Watkins twice, John Jigg$ a member of the Mxnxpxly Family alongside Rockwelz and M.O.U.F., the crew Nitty came up in and now runs plus Jay Royale, Mondo Slade, Maxx Bond, Splash631, Pretty P, The Usual Suspects, Nat Burn and The Bad Seed. One outlier, and a notable one: the closer, "Out Da Mudd," brings in ethemadassassin, the Los Angeles-by-way-of-North-Carolina veteran who was also in this column's last batch. The running order is straight street-rap architecture "Nuttin Into Summin" opens at four-plus minutes, "Da S.O.S. Band" and "Da Vultures" carry the weight in the middle, and the shortest tracks sit around three minutes. Nobody is padding. For a series that started before most independent rap infrastructure existed in its current form, four volumes and a roster that keeps returning is a working model, not nostalgia.
