Underground Hip Hop veteran and esteemed lyricist Copywrite enlists indie golden age emcees & producers from his early Rawkus, Eastern Conference & Fondle 'Em Records days with his seventh studio album, "The Last Supper".

The album features thirteen tracks that bring back that early 2000's Weathermen feel. DJ Mighty Mi & Cop reunite for a couple of tracks that are guaranteed to tide you over until their joint EP drops later this year. The Juggaknot's resident monster, Breeze Brewin, also shows up alongside underground champion Bobbito Garcia over a banger by Swab, who handles a good portion of the album's tracks, and the result is pure 89-tek-9 nostalgia reminiscent of the WKCR hey days. The always honest and lyrical depth of Atmosphere's slug complements Copy's tales of loss & pain over the acculative years on "Turn the Page". Another standout is the track "Green Screen" where Copy drops bars like "I spread rumors people heard sh** about / tat my name on my d*** and put words in your mouth" over a classic Evidence banger. The waterproof emcee shows up alongside Niko Is and Bless Picasso for "Diamond Bukowski," and the result is nothing short of spectacular. There's a surprise guest from the Weathermen days that I've been asked not to reveal for this review, but the core WM fans will lose their minds. This is Copy's best work if you ask me. The songs are all super dense and packed with effortless details that require multiple listens to fully digest.

Twenty years of being one of independent rap's elite shines through on Pete Nelson's magnum opus, "T.H.E. Last Supper".

Atmosphere's Slug and Copy share some of life's ills over a guitar driven soundscape  provided by Swab. This song puts you  in the mindset of "June", where we find both artists digging deep to self reflect and relate to the listener. The Video is executed brilliantly with a clean cinematic feel which is provided by Seanie Grevencamp and Sleepy monkey films. Like the Samurai they both cleanly chop off the heads of lyrical opponents and contemporaries. Their katana blades soaked in punchlines of slain rivals, breaking necks easily with their rapid fire delivery. DJ Hoppa was enlisted to lay down cuts on the hook. Kount Fif would be the shogun producer to hire both Ronin on a quest to slay the demon they face in each other.

Burn Bridges Featuring Copywrite Cuts By Taebo Manuhs Produced By Krohme by The Perfect Color Combination

 

Another dope single from The Perfect Color Combination - Burn Bridges - produced by Krohme (who also produced Creatures Of The Night).

This time PCC got the lyrics from well known MC Copywrite (Weathermen, MHZ) to rock along on the track. Adding cuts from the ever-skilled Taebo Manuhs on the hook and outro to bring it all together as another hip-hop underground banger.

 Like the smell of  gasoline being pumped into a screaming engine, "Weight 4 It" delivers on impact. Copywrite, who constantly redefines the bar for a punchline, shows up fiercely on long-time collaborator DJ Mighty Mi's chest rattling production. An onslaught of double entendres peppered with back handed jokes — sometimes at the listeners expense — makes this a classic Copywrite song. "Weight 4 It" is the second single on the upcoming album T.H.E. Last Supper, releasing this May on Man Bites Dog Records.

This is the second single from my new album, "T.H.E. LAST SUPPER" dropping early this year on Man Bites Dog Records. 

I enlisted Evidence for the production on this track and my brother DJ Ceven killed the scratches for me.  So we're representing real Hip Hop shit in its purest form on this one and you can't do anything but love it.

Since this song is called "Green Screen", I'm doing a remix context for both the song and the video. Included in my YouTube video for this song is the link to download the acapella for the song. Just add your beat and since the video is green screen, you'll also be able to easy edit the background of the video to manipulate what I'm doing. The winner will be selected personally by me and will make a song with me personally on live.

The year was 2013; I was serving 6 months for assaulting an officer of the law. One night I woke up to urinate, but the dream I woke up from was full of all this new music that didn't exist yet. I liked the idea, so I quickly wrote two verses and went back to sleep. Fast forward to a year ago when I was going through some of my many notebooks at D1's studio and I stumbled upon this little "mixtapes in my sleep" song. I went through some swab bangers and picked one that I felt fit the vibe of what I was talking about in the rhymes and I recorded it. It was a one-take thing. I'm rapping pretty relaxed on it and I was having fun. I really like the idea of putting the dj front and center because in this day and age people seem to have forgotten that all this hiphop sh*t started with a dj. Also, about 4-5 things that either me or Mickey said in our rhymes have come to fruition haha. Speaking of Mickey, I had to bring in one of the greatest emcees of our time (factz!) and voila! We have the lead single off of my new upcoming album, "T.H.E. LAST SUPPER", coming out early 2024 on Man Bites Dog.

Baltimore hip-hop quartet G.A.W.D.S has returned with new heater “Jaffe Joffer Jr.” (Available now via all DSP’s). Composed of Regulus (aka Reggy Runt), Pinpoint, L3 and DJ Rocky Styles the members bring that raw boom-bap to your ears with additional firepower courtesy of guest Copywrite.

Speaking on the track Regulus (who also produced the track revealed: “This was actually the last joint we recorded for our album (Gloria) so it has a raw and rushed quality to it but that’s the way we liked it. The album title is actually in reference to Pinpoint’s mom, who passed a few months before we recorded and my grandmother (both who were named Gloria). Pinpoint busted out the lyric about ‘I copped my pops some pumas, call me Jaffe Joffer Junior’ about supporting his dad and we ended up making that part of the hook. We wanted someone to jump on the third verse and kill it and always wanted to work with Copywrite. We have some mutual acquaintances and got in touch. He was actually pretty excited to lay his verse and tagged us on IG after recording.”

G.A.W.D.S (which stands for “Going At Whoever Don’t Surrender”) formed in late 2016, though all the members were active in the Baltimore hip hop scene for years prior. In 2017 they released their For Gawds Sake mixtape, followed by the self-titled release of their debut LP in 2018. This was soon followed by the Say Grace EP (also in 2018) and The Other Side in 2020.
